Misery Lake

Length – 6km
I sometimes wonder how some lakes get there name. Most are obvious but some like this one are not. This lake is a bit of a challenge to get to from the 103 because it is up stream. Misery lake is about 2.5km long and is a very nice place to paddle, it reminds me of Russia lake, because it is covered with lily pads. When I got to the top I found a stream that I decided to explore. I went up about 200m when I found one of the most unique spots in Shelburne County. The stream takes a 90 degree turn and becomes a stillwater that is bordered to the north by a large boulder that runs most of its length. Where the stream takes the turn there is also a large pine tree growing out of the rock. It is finding spots like this that drive me to explore.
